First timer

For those of you who know me best, you know teaching is not something I'm comfortable with nor am I very good at.  I was asked to substitute for Riley's bible class teacher while she is on vacation for 2 weeks.  I agreed because she was very thorough with her instructions and explanation of how to do things.  Today was my first day teaching my first ever Sunday school class.  I think I did okay.  I didn't let myself get overwhelmed by a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds, which is a plus.  I got my lesson finished, let them make a craft and color and I was still finished before time was up.  Mike was in there with me for support and he snagged a few pictures with his phone.

Me explaining the story.  I think in this picture I was actually telling Riley to hush and sit down. lol  I have the "mommy look"

Using my props like a good girl.

Making silly faces so I could keep their attention while asking my questions and telling the story.

Reading my cheat sheet to figure out what to do next.

It was not as difficult as I expected it to be, but I will be glad when Mrs. Susan is back.  I will be teaching next Sunday and then I'm headed up to Arkansas for a week and a half.  We love our church and the kids in this class were great.  They were very active and participated well, I just don't like being the one responsible to their bible education since I'm still learning about it myself.  Maybe next time I'll teach the baby class so I can sing songs and talk about Noah's Ark.  Ha! Ha!
