We had a great Christmas and New Year and I sincerely hope you did too! We were able to spend our holidays with some of our family. My parents and my sister came down here the week before Christmas and we had a great time. They left the day before Christmas eve and then Mike's parents came for a week. We had a New Year's eve celebration at Brian and Julia's new house to ring in the new year and Mike's cousin Jolie got to come in town from Dallas to celebrate with us. She stayed the night at our house and Riley was so funny. He asked her if she would sleep in his bed with him. We had a great time and were thankful for being able to spend time with family.

It's officially the ugly time of year. It's actually a little past the ugliest time of year. The only thing I love about January is the fact that a few people I love have birthdays. My sweet Rowen was born January 29th and we celebrated his second birthday by going out to eat. I am going to have an official party for him soon because we were all sick on his actual birthday. Riley's birthday is coming up in five days too. I can't believe my first baby is about to be 5 years old! How is this possible? It just seems like last month I came home from the hospital with my sweet little preemie. We are planning a froggie birthday party for Rowen and (of course) a "How to Train your Dragon" party for Riley.

I have started a new adventure this year. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and never took the first step to do it until now. I am writing a novel. It's definitely a work in progress, but I can honestly say I'm amazed at how easy it was for me when I started writing. It seemed as if the words just freely flowed from my mind through my fingers and my thoughts are surprisingly in order. I started this novel on January 15th and I'm already 14 chapters and 162 pages into it. It's a very exciting story. My goal is to get an agent, editor and publisher so I can continue with my newfound career and what I believe is my calling. I've always been good with creative writing because of my vivid imagination, so it seems after years and years of wondering what it is I should be doing with my life I have finally found it. Once I reach my goal of getting published I will announce it to everyone so you can help me reach the New York Times Bestseller list someday. :-)

We were saddened to learn that the Fairfield pre-school Riley and Reece attend will not be continuing in the fall. Riley will start Kindergarten, but I was counting on getting Reece and Rowen in the pre-school. I was fortunate enough to get them enrolled in the Little Lambs pre-school at the United Methodist Church here in Fairfield so they will still be very close to home. I was a little apprehensive about starting Rowen since he's my last baby at home, but he's so excited about going to pre-school I don't think he would give me much of a choice. In fact, he was angry that he didn't get to start this past year with his brothers. He's Mr. Independent. Riley is very supportive and protective of his baby brothers and Reece is wonderful with sharing...most things. Reece is definitely my middle child but I wouldn't change a thing about him. He loves unconditionally and has the sweetest smile and a tender heart. I was truly blessed with some sweet and loving boys. God knew what he was doing when he decided to bless our lives with these precious souls.
